Pune: Kalewadi Area Plagued by Criminal Acts, Two Arrests Made in D Mart Parking Lot Robbery
Kalewadi, 4th February 2024: A wave of criminal activities has hit the Kalewadi area, with two separate incidents of gang-related chaos and robbery. The Wakad Police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police have taken action, making arrests in both cases.
In the first incident on Friday (2nd February) night at the D Mart parking lot in Kalewadi, Shubham Ashok Tapkir (23, resident of Kalewadi) has been apprehended. The police have registered a case against him and six others based on a complaint filed by Mahendra Prakash Sawant (37, resident of Kalewadi). According to the police report, the accused arrived in a car (MH 14 KJ 1588) and vandalized vehicles in the parking lot, creating terror in the area. Sawant was threatened and forcibly robbed of Rs 1400 from his pocket. The accused, including Shubham Ashok Tapkir, now face legal consequences as Wakad police continue their investigation.
In a separate incident on Saturday (3rd) at midnight, chaos erupted in the Kalewadi area involving a group of five people, including two minors. Rohit Prabhakar Waghmare (22, Kalewadi) filed a complaint, leading to the registration of a case against Siddharth Sanjay Jagtap (19), Ayush Sunil Khaire (18), Harsh Vinod Mahadik (20), and two minors. The police have arrested Ayush and Harsh.
The suspects, armed with Koytas and wooden sticks, wreaked havoc in Shivkrupa Colony in Kalewadi. They vandalized rickshaws and two-wheelers, forcefully withdrawing Rs 2100 from Waghmare’s pocket. The Gang also instilled fear in the area by threatening residents.
