Pune: Joyriding Thief Arrested, 12 Stolen Two-Wheelers Recovered

Hinjawadi, 4th February 2024: The Hinjawadi police station under Pimpri Chinchwad police have successfully arrested a thief who stole bikes for amusement, leading to the recovery of 12 stolen two-wheelers. The arrested individual is identified as Suryakant Baliram Aade, a 25-year-old resident of Pimple Saudagar with native roots in Washim.

The arrest follows an incident on January 24 when Tanaji Amle’s bike was stolen in broad daylight from in front of Kolte Patil’s Office. Subsequently, a case was registered at the Hinjawadi Police Station. The authorities, utilizing CCTV footage from the crime scene, identified the thief responsible for stealing Amle’s bike.

The Hinjawadi police traced the suspect, Suryakant Baliram Aade, based on the CCTV footage. Information gathered indicated that Aade resided in Pimple Saudagar. Acting on intelligence that he would be near Wakad Bridge, the police laid a trap and successfully detained him. Upon questioning, Aade admitted to stealing Amle’s bike and confessed to pilfering a total of 12 bikes. Law enforcement has seized 12 two-wheelers valued at Rs 3 lakh 60 thousand from the accused.

The arrest and subsequent confession have unravelled 11 additional crimes, including four in Hinjawadi police station, two in Dehu Road police station, and one each in Wakad, Talegaon Dabhade, Chikhli, Hadapsar, and Indapur Police Stations. The police are actively pursuing leads to identify the original owners of the remaining two-wheeler.
