Historic Republic Day Parade Commences with Over 100 Women Artistes Leading the Way

New Delhi, 26th January 2024: As India commemorates its 75th Republic Day today, the capital city witnessed a momentous occasion as the parade kickstarted on the duty path with the traditional ‘Awahan.’

 

Breaking new ground in the history of the country, the parade began with a remarkable display of talent by more than 100 women artistes, who took the lead in playing various Indian instruments. This unprecedented event showcased their skills in handling traditional instruments such as Shankha, Nadaswaram, Nagada, Dhol-Tasha, among others.

 

A noteworthy highlight is the significant contribution of Maharashtra to this groundbreaking initiative. The women’s band from Chiplun, Maharashtra, proudly took center stage, adding a touch of disruption and breaking stereotypes. These talented women from Chiplun initiated the parade with a vibrant display of musical prowess, featuring instruments like dhol-tasha, shankh, dhak, chenda and more.

 

This extraordinary representation of women in the forefront of the Republic Day Parade adds a new chapter to the celebration, symbolizing inclusivity and the evolving role of women in traditionally male-dominated fields. The disruptive women’s band from Chiplun has not only showcased their musical talent but also brought pride to the state of Maharashtra on this significant national occasion.
