The police had recently taken action against Bangladeshi infiltrators residing illegally in Pune, leading to the arrests of 29 individuals across various police stations, including Hadapsar, Wanawadi, Bharati Vidhyapeeth, and Faraaskhana.

Following the arrests, a thorough investigation by the police revealed that the Bangladeshi infiltrators had managed to obtain 10 passports based on forged documents. The passports were issued illegally, raising concerns about the vulnerability of the passport issuance process to fraudulent activities.

Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr has taken serious note of the revelation and has directed swift action against those involved in the illegal procurement of passports. Assistant Commissioner of Police Ramakant Mane and Senior Police Inspector DS Hake, from Pune Police’s Passport Verification Department, have issued specific instructions to passport verification staff to intensify efforts against foreign nationals residing illegally.

Applicants are now required to be personally visited at their residence for verification.

Police Commissioner has instructed that the residents of the area should be thoroughly inquired about the applicants’ residence, adding an extra layer of scrutiny.
