Pune, 26th December 2023: In a significant development, Pune Metro commuters can look forward to an enhanced travel experience starting January 1, 2024. The Pune Metro authorities have announced a substantial increase in train frequency during both peak and non-peak hours, ensuring a more efficient and time-saving journey for passengers.

During peak hours, metro trains will now arrive at stations every 7.5 minutes, providing a more rapid and accessible mode of transportation for the city’s workforce. Even during non-peak hours, the frequency remains impressive, with trains scheduled to arrive every 10 minutes. This strategic adjustment aims to reduce waiting times for passengers, enhancing the overall efficiency of Pune’s metro service.

To further accommodate the growing demand, the Purpleline (PCMC to Civil Court) will see an addition of 32 extra trips, ensuring smoother connectivity for commuters along this route. Similarly, the Aqualine (Vanaz to Ruby Hall Clinic) will experience an increase of 31 additional trips, contributing to the convenience of those traveling between Vanaz and Ruby Hall Clinic in Kothrud.

In addition to the increased frequency, officials have revealed that the metro trains will now halt for a brief 30 seconds at each station, streamlining boarding and alighting processes. The reduced dwell time is expected to contribute to the overall efficiency of the metro system.

The travel times for two key routes have also been optimized. The journey from PCMC to Civil Court will now take a mere 25 minutes, while the route from Ruby Hall to Vanaz (Kothrud) has been shortened to 28 minutes. These improvements are poised to make metro travel a faster and more appealing option for Pune residents.

The metro service will commence its operations earlier, with the first train departing at 6 am. The last train will continue to run until 10 pm, providing an extended window for commuters to utilize the metro service.

Metro officials are optimistic that the increased frequency and optimized travel times will not only save time for passengers but also contribute to a more seamless and efficient public transportation system in Pune. The developments mark a step towards enhancing the overall metro experience for the city’s residents.
