Pune, 16th December 2023: Maruti Suzuki’s entry into the electric vehicle market has been confirmed with the upcoming launch of the eVX, a highly anticipated electric SUV expected to debut in late 2024 in India.

Key Features: The eVX, showcased initially as a concept at the 2023 Auto Expo in Greater Noida, promises an impressive driving range of up to 550 km on a single charge. It boasts a sleek design reminiscent of Maruti Suzuki’s SUV lineup, featuring a coupe-like roofline and a host of modern amenities. These include a large touchscreen infotainment system, an all-digital instrument cluster, 360-degree camera system, ADAS tech, automatic climate control, powered front seats, a wireless charger, HUD, and more.

Competitive Landscape: Positioned as a premium product in the above Rs. 15 lakh range, the eVX is expected to face competition from upcoming electric vehicles like the Tata Curvv EV, Hyundai Creta-based EV, Mahindra XUV.e8, Honda Elevate EV, and others in the market. Moreover, the eVX’s Toyota sibling, anticipated to launch in 2025, marks a significant milestone in the Suzuki-Toyota partnership’s pursuit of electrification.

Battery Options and Manufacturing: Underpinned by Toyota’s 27PL platform, derived from the 40PL, the eVX will offer two battery pack options: a 48 kWh variant providing over 400 km of range and a larger 60 kWh pack capable of around 550 km, mirroring the concept’s specifications. Both SUVs will be manufactured at Suzuki’s Gujarat facility, showcasing the brand’s commitment to producing electric vehicles in India.

Global Impact: Beyond catering to the Indian market, these electric SUVs represent a global milestone for both Maruti Suzuki and Toyota, as they plan to export these vehicles manufactured in India.
