Pune, 16th December 2023: Police Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr has reached a milestone by taking action against 100 organized crime gangs since assuming the position of Pune Police Commissioner. In the current year of 2023, 100 cases have been filed, leading to the prosecution of 649 individuals under the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA).

The latest operation, marking the 100th action under MCOCA, targeted a gang operating in the Bibvewadi police station area. Senior Police Inspector Savita Dhamdhere of Bibvewadi Police Station, under the guidance of DCP (Zone 5) R Raja, submitted a proposal to Additional Commissioner of Police (East Region) Ranjan Kumar Sharma for sanction under MCOCA.

On November 8, 2023, the accused, namely Saurabh Shinde, Tejas Jagtap, Chander Rathod, Aniket Katkar, and Pankej Diwekar, conspired to murder son of a grocery store owner. In connection with this case, Tejas Shankar Jagtap (20) of Upper Indiranagar, Bibvewadi, and Aniket Sudhir Katkar (22) have been arrested and are currently in Yerawada Jail. However, Saurabh Sharad Shinde (22), Chander Unnappa/Hunnappa Rathod (22), and Pankaj Sanjay Divekar (19) remain wanted by the police.

It is evident that the primary accused, Saurabh Shinde, along with other members, engaged in organized crime with the aim of financial gain through illegal means, instilling fear in the area. Despite preventive actions taken against the accused at various intervals, they have persistently committed serious crimes.

Commissioner Retesh Kumaarr’s proactive approach in tackling organized crime has resulted in the dismantling of criminal networks and the apprehension of numerous individuals involved in illicit activities.
