Inter-State Gang Busted For Stealing Goods From Companies In Pune And PCMC Areas, Valuables Worth Rs 24.45 Lakh Recovered

Chikhali, 13th December 2023: Pimpri Chinchwad Police have arrested a criminal gang involved in a series of thefts targeting companies in Pimpri-Chinchwad and Pune cities.

The police operation resulted in the recovery of stolen goods valued at Rs 24.45 lakh. The gang, led by the main accused Abdul Kalam Rahman Shah, exploited minors to execute their thefts.

Individuals who have been taken into custody include Abdul Kalam Rahman Shah, a 23-year-old residing in Chikhali and originally from Uttar Pradesh, Yogesh Tanaji Chandane, a 26-year-old resident of Chikhali, and Ravi Shankar Mahavir Chaurasia, a 23-year-old resident of Khed, also originally from Uttar Pradesh. The police are searching for accused Rizwan Khan, Shakeel Mansuri, and two minors believed to be part of the criminal network.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Sandeep Doiphode said that an increase in thefts in the industrial area prompted focused efforts by the Chikhali Police. Senior Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Katkar of Chikhali police station formed a dedicated team to gather information on house burglaries, conducting technical analyses and identifying suspicious individuals at crime scenes.

Abdul Kalam Rahman Shah was apprehended at Anganwadi Chowk, Chikhali, where he had arrived to sell stolen goods. The police detained Yogesh Tanaji Chandane and Ravi Shankar Chaurasia, along with a vehicle used for transporting stolen items.

The seized items include a grinder machine, knife, chargeable tube light, butane gas gun, iron grate, axe handle, drill machine, steel bolt cutter, hexa frame, T wrench, screwdriver, and hammer. The gang is involved in eight theft cases across Chikhali, Chakan, Kondhwa, and Bharati Vidyapeeth Police Station limits, and have stolen goods worth Rs 52.65 lakh. Till now, cops have recovered goods worth Rs 24.45 lakh.

“The accused, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, operated by forming a criminal gang that included minors. They rented a room in Pune, where they planned and executed thefts primarily targeting closed companies. The gang would pilfer from closed establishments under supervision, later discarding the stolen goods from their vehicle”, DCP Doiphode informed.

The investigation team included ACP Dr Vivek Mugalikar, Senior Police Inspector Dnyaneshwar Katkar, Assistant Police Inspector Taufiq Syed and police personnel Baba Garje, Sunil Shinde, Chetan Sawant, Vishwas Nanekar, Bhaskar Taralkar, Sandeep Masal, Deepak Mohite, Amar Kamble, Kabir Pinjari, Santosh Sakpal and Santosh Bhor.
