Pune: PMPML Administration Facilitates Pedestrian Day With Extra Buses Today And Altered Routes On Laxmi Road

Pune, 11th December 2023: To celebrate the Pedestrian Day, the Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Ltd (PMPML) administration has implemented special measures today to enhance the pedestrian experience, including increased train frequencies and altered traffic routes.

To promote pedestrian-friendly environments, the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) has declared Laxmi Road a vehicle-free zone from 10 am to 8 pm on Monday. The closure will span from Nagarkar Talim Chowk to Garud Ganpati Chowk, providing pedestrians with an uninterrupted and safe walking experience in the heart of the city.

In conjunction with the vehicle-free initiative, PMPML has arranged additional train services with a frequency of every thirty minutes from 10 am to 7 pm. The modified train routes will cater to various key locations, ensuring convenient travel for pedestrians. The routes include Nagarkar Talim Chowk to Bajirao Road to PMC Main Office, Swargate to Umbrya Ganpati Chowk to Swargate, and Deccan to Umbrya Ganpati Chowk to Deccan.

To facilitate pedestrians, trains will operate with a frequency of thirty minutes on the Nagarkar Talim Chowk – Bajirao Road – PMC Main Building to Nagarkar Talim route and forty minutes on the Swargate-Umbrya Ganpati Chowk-Swargate route. Extra buses will run every 30 minutes on the Deccan-Umbrya Ganpati Chowk-Deccan route. For passengers from Shivajinagar Metro Station, the service will run on the Shivajinagar Railway Station to Swargate route via Shivajinagar District Court(Pune) every four minutes.

Punyadasham of routes No. 7 and 9 will be closed, and Routes No. 55, 58, and 59 will follow regular traffic on RB Kumthekar Road towards Shanipar and Appa Balwant Chowk and via Narayan Peth, Alka Talkies Chowk when coming from Shanipar. Buses on routes 81, 144, 144A, 144C, and 283 will follow their regular route when heading to Pune station and pass through PMC Main Building when arriving from Pune station.
