5 Children From Pune Drown At Devgad Beach In Sindhudurg district
Sindhudurg/Pune, 9th December 2023: In a heart-wrenching incident, five children from Pune, including four girls, lost their lives in a drowning tragedy at Devgad beach in Sindhudurg district. The victims, students of a private military academy in Pune, were on a group outing when the incident occurred.
The incident took place between 3 to 4 pm today, when approximately 35 individuals from the Sainik Academy, Nigdi, in the Pimpri-Chinchwad area embarked on a trip to Devgad. Reports suggest that the group, seeking respite from the scorching summer heat, decided to take a dip in the sea, leading to the tragic outcome.
Among the victims identified are Ankita Galte, Anisha Padwal, Prerna Dongre, and Payal Bansode, while Ram Dichholkar is still missing. Intensive search operations are currently underway to locate the missing individual, with authorities deploying significant resources to expedite the process.
The bodies of the deceased have been moved to Devgad Rural Hospital, where necessary procedures are being carried out. The local police are involved in the search and rescue efforts, employing all available means to locate Dichholkar.
The local authorities are urging the public to exercise caution and adhere to safety guidelines, especially during beach outings.
