Pune: Lonavala Police Seize Illegal Liquor Shipment, Arrest Driver on Apati Road

Lonavala, 7th December 2023: Acting on intelligence received from an undercover informant, Assistant Superintendent of Police Satyasai Karthik, along with Lonavala Rural Police officers, intercepted and arrested a liquor transportation operation on the Apati road.

The operation led to the seizure of a Tempo, carrying liquor valued at Rs 96,660. The driver, found without a license, has been booked under the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.

The interception and arrest occurred within the limits of Apati village after the undercover informant tipped off the Lonavala Police about an illegal liquor transportation operation. The Piaggio Tempo, allegedly transporting liquor from Lonavala to Apati without the required license, was apprehended, and a substantial quantity of liquor was confiscated.

A case has been registered against the driver at the Lonavala Rural Police Station under the provisions of the Maharashtra Prohibition Act.

The successful operation was conducted under the guidance of Superintendent of Police Ankit Goyal, Additional Superintendent of Police Pune Mitesh Ghatte, and Assistant Superintendent of Police Satyasai Karthik. The team included Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Raul, Police Sub-Inspector Bharat Bhosale, Constables Sitaram Bokad, Kishore Pawar, and Subhash Shinde.
