Pune: Maharashtra Land Records Dept Introduces Digital ‘eMojni’ System For Enumeration

Pune, 5th December 2023: The Maharashtra State Land Records Department has introduced the ‘e-Mojni’ (Enumeration) system in response to the increasing demand for numeration. This digital system eliminates the need for individuals to physically visit the Land Records Department office for calculations. The initiative is being piloted in five taluks within the Pune division, with Velhe taluka in the Pune district serving as the initial implementation site.

As urbanization continues in small villages, various infrastructure projects are underway, leading to an uptick in the demand for citizen enumeration. The Land Records Department of the Pune Division receives over six thousand applications monthly, reflecting the growing need for counting citizens. In response, the department has launched the e-Mojni project on a pilot basis.

Anil Mane, Deputy Director of the Land Records Department, explained that the “eMojni” version two project is currently in the pilot phase, covering Velhe taluka in Pune district, Sangola in Solapur district, Javali in Satara, Palus in Sangli district, and Bhudargad in Kolhapur district. The experiment, which began in September, has received 580 applications so far. With e-enumeration, citizens can apply online without visiting the Land Records office, saving valuable time.

To apply for eMojni online, individuals can visit the dedicated website emojni.mahabhumi.gov.in The project has received 84 applications from Velhe in the Pune district, 170 from Solapur, 127 from Satara, and 144 from Bhudargad. Additionally, 55 applications have been received from Palus in Sangli district.

The Central Government’s SVAMITVA Yojana includes the Gaothan Jamabandi project, covering 6,415 villages in the Pune division since 2019. Of these, 4,281 revenue villages have been included in the scheme. 

Activities under the scheme involve establishing village boundaries, drone surveys, obtaining information from Gram Panchayats, issuing inquiry notices, demarcation of income, inclusion of final maps in the inquiry register, and producing property cards for original landowners. The scheme has completed property cards for 29 villages, producing 2,26,702 property cards and 3,26,364 income cards to date.
