Pune: Cook Arrested for Alleged Molestation of Minor In Undri
Pune, 5th December 2023: A distressing incident has shaken the community in Undri, Pune, as a 24-year-old private cook, Ranjeet Kumar Mandal, hailing from Uttar Pradesh, was apprehended by the Kondhwa police for purportedly molesting a minor girl under his care, according to officials.

The incident, which occurred on November 27, unfolded while the house was vacant. Mandal, employed as a cook by a single parent with three children, including an elder daughter, allegedly assaulted the minor during this time. Reports suggest that when the girl resisted, Mandal threatened her life, leaving her in a state of fear and distress.
Assistant Police Inspector Dineshkumar Patil from Kondhwa police station remarked, “The accused had been a part of the household for the past five years, gaining their trust and being regarded as a family member. However, his actions have proven otherwise.”
The victim’s parents, upon learning of the appalling incident, swiftly approached the Kondhwa police station and lodged a complaint against Mandal. Legal action has been initiated against the accused under relevant sections, including charges of molestation and pertinent sections of the Protection of Children From Sexual Offences Act.
The harrowing assault took place when the minor daughter was alone and the caretaker had stepped out briefly for errands. Despite her attempts to evade the assault, the accused threatened her, instilling fear and preventing her from speaking out. The situation escalated on Friday when the assailant made further advances, leading the victim to seek help from a relative. Subsequently, the father was alerted, prompting Mandal’s arrest.
After appearing in court on Sunday, the suspect was remanded in magisterial custody and subsequently transferred to Yerwada central prison.
The accused was brought before the magistrate court on Sunday and remanded into custody, highlighting the swift action taken by the authorities to address the distressing incident.
