Pune: Armed Forces Medical College Honored with President’s Colour and Launch of ‘Prajna’ Computational Medicine Center

Wanowrie, 1st December 2023: Today, President Droupadi Murmu bestowed the prestigious President’s Colour upon the Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC) in Pune, alongside virtually inaugurating the cutting-edge Armed Forces Centre for Computational Medicine, known as ‘Prajna.’

In her address, the President lauded AFMC’s standing as a beacon of excellence in medical education. She commended the institution for producing graduates who have brought pride to the nation through their unwavering service in the face of war, counterinsurgency operations, natural disasters, and pandemics, both domestically and internationally.

President Murmu expressed satisfaction in the noteworthy contributions made by female cadets who graduated from AFMC, attaining significant positions in the armed forces medical field. She voiced her confidence that more women would be inspired to pursue careers in the armed forces.

Highlighting the current advancements in medical technology, including Artificial Intelligence, Precision Medicine, 3D Printing, and Telemedicine, the President emphasized the vital role played by the Armed Forces Medical Services in maintaining the optimal health of soldiers, ensuring they are always battle-ready. Stressing the importance of maintaining the highest standards of medical treatment for all personnel across the three services, she urged the AFMC team to prioritize research and leverage the latest technologies.
