Pashan, 28th November 2023: In a scathing critique of the Maharashtra government’s inaction on promoting the Marathi language, Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) president Raj Thackeray questioned the administration’s lack of action in ensuring shop signboards are in Marathi.

Thackeray expressed his discontent during the inauguration of the MNS worker’s public relations office in Pashan, where he interacted with the media.

Highlighting the MNS’s recent removal of English names from shops in Mumbai and Thane as a form of protest, Thackeray pointed out the passive role of the government despite court orders mandating the use of Marathi in shop signages.

He criticized the government for merely paying lip service to issues without taking concrete actions, stating that the government often claims to adhere to Balasaheb’s thoughts but fails to translate them into practical measures, such as promoting the Marathi language.

Thackeray also criticized the government’s failure to address issues like removing loudspeakers from mosques, emphasizing the need for effective implementation of policies. Expressing concern over the rise of hooliganism and drug sales in the state, Thackeray suggested that giving the police 24 hours of freedom could lead to crackdowns on these issues.

He stressed the importance of identifying those behind drug trafficking and understanding the financial sources involved to tackle the problem effectively.
