Pune, 28th November 2023: In a significant development, Senior Divisional Security Commissioner of Pune Division, Uday Singh Pawar, has been transferred. This move is perceived as a response to the recent rape case involving a minor girl in the railway quarters near Pune railway station.

It marks the third administrative action taken in connection with this case. Previously, following the exposure of the rape incident and the filing of the FIR, the Railway Administration promptly suspended Pune Station RPF Inspector BS Raghuvanshi and Special Intelligence Branch Inspector Sabir Shaikh, launching an official investigation.

The Assistant Security Commissioner of Pune Division took charge of the rape case investigation, mandated to submit a report within a week. While the details of the investigation report remain undisclosed, a senior railway source revealed that the senior DSC has been transferred to the Lumding division of the NFR (Northeast Frontier Railway) zone in Assam.

Currently, the Government Railway Police (GRP) is overseeing the investigation into the rape case but has yet to apprehend the main accused, a head constable in the RPF. Despite the GRP’s efforts, the main accused remains elusive. Three individuals have been arrested in connection with the case so far. Karan Rathod (30) and Sushmita Kasbe (24) face charges related to detaining a minor girl.

The primary accused, Anil Pawar, operated an NGO called Siddharth Multipurpose Society, allegedly using it to extort money from the families of girls who had run away from home. The NGO is currently registered in the name of Anil Pawar’s absconding wife. Investigations revealed that Pawar had hired private individuals to locate runaway girls, paying them cash salaries ranging from Rs 5,000 to Rs 6,000.
