Pune, 28th November 2023: The Maharashtra Information Technology (IT) department is currently in discussions with the center’s Civil Registration System (CRS) to establish a seamless exchange of birth and death data. This strategic move aims to enable real-time integration of the acquired data, enhancing public accessibility through the ‘Aaple Sarkar’ portal.

The forthcoming portal will feature a dedicated link, allowing citizens to effortlessly download their birth and death certificates. The initiative is set to roll out initially to benefit urban local bodies.

Under the Maharashtra Right to Public Services (RTS) Act, all government departments are mandated to provide notices and services within specified timeframes. With a scope covering 438 services and 38 departments across the state, officials acknowledge the complexity of this task. Data integration is anticipated to be an ongoing process, expected to conclude by March of the following year.

A state IT Department official shared insights into the ongoing efforts to connect Aaple Sarkar data with CRS data, aiming for completion by 2024. Once achieved, citizens will have the convenience of downloading their essential documents, including birth and death certificates, from the comfort of their homes. The necessary modalities for this streamlined process are actively being developed.

Presently, hospitals register births and deaths with local authorities, and citizens can obtain corresponding certificates by visiting the appropriate ward office after a waiting period of two to three weeks. The Aaple Sarkar Portal is envisioned to facilitate various government services, encompassing the issuance of residence, income, and non-creamy layer caste certificates. The integration of data aims to simplify these processes and enhance citizen convenience.
