Wanowrie, 26th November 2023: The Pune police have arrested Renuka Nikhil Khanna (38) for allegedly causing the death of her husband, Nikhil Pushkaraj Khanna (36), by assaulting him.

The incident took place following a heated argument between the couple, triggered by Nikhil’s failure to celebrate birthday in Dubai and not presenting Renuka with a desired wedding anniversary gift.

The court has ordered Renuka to be held in police custody until November 28 in connection with the case.

Dr. Pushkaraj Khanna, Nikhil’s father, filed a complaint with the Wanowrie police station, revealing that the couple, married for six years, had been embroiled in disputes recently. Renuka Jakhar, originally from Rajasthan, was actively involved in her husband’s business. Tensions escalated as Renuka expressed dissatisfaction over not celebrating her birthday in Dubai, which took place in September, and not receiving the anticipated anniversary gift on November 5.

The discord further intensified as Renuka desired to visit Delhi for her brother’s daughter’s birthday in December. The couple’s disagreements culminated in a violent altercation on a Friday afternoon, resulting in Renuka allegedly punching Nikhil in the face. Subsequently, Nikhil lost consciousness. She had called Dr Khanna who reached the flat and found that Nikhil was bleeding from nose and mouth.

The police detained Renuka for questioning, ultimately leading to her arrest in connection with the murder of her husband.

The case is currently under investigation by Assistant Inspector Datta Prasad Shendge, guided by Senior Police Inspector Sanjay Patange of the Wanowrie Police Station.

Nikhil, who was engaged in land transactions and building construction, resided with his wife and mother-in-law in Ganga Satellite society in Wanowrie.
