CLOSING CEREMONY OF VIGILANCE AWARENESS WEEK

Pune, 18th November 2023: In adherence and strict pursuance/compliance to the directives of the Central Vigilance Commission, New Delhi, established in 2003, the Vigilance Awareness Week with the theme – “Say no to Corruption, Commit to the nation” or “भ्रष्टाचार का विरोध करें, राष्ट्र के प्रति समर्पित रहें” was celebrated w.e.f 30th October 2023 to 5th November 2023 in the Principal Controller of Defence Accounts (Army) Office Pune.

Main office organized a series of programs and events to foster awareness and sensitise masses about vigilance during this week. The opening ceremony on 30th October 2023 saw all participants taking the Integrity pledge in Hindi and English both.

Online pledge was also undertaken. A group photo was taken in from of bust of Mahatma Gandhi, Father of the Nation on the auspicious occasion with festive fervour and patriotic spirit.

A special Talk Show of S. Chockalingam, IAS, Director, YASHADA Pune was organized on 9th November 2023. He addressed the audience over the importance of preventive vigilance covering corruption in all its details and its aftermath. He advocated strategies for combating it, leveraging IT technology and for creating a transparent working atmosphere and making official accountable for their decisions. He also insisted that it is the people who are responsible for eradicating corruption and they must work for it to purge it out as a National ill.

PCDA (A) Pune concluded its observance of Vigilance Awareness Week from 30th October 2023 to 5th November 2023. The week featured various competitions viz., essay writing, debate and quiz receiving enthusiastic participation from officers and staff of the Main office and its 96 sub-offices from all over Gujarat, Goa and Maharashtra.

PCDA (A) Pune also organized an essay competition for students of Army Public School Pune, highlighting the significance of spreading awareness about vigilance, especially among children, through Gram Sabhas and schools. Additionally, a Poster making/Drawing competition for children below 12 years took place at the Defence Accounts Department Residential Complex, Wanowrie.

The closing ceremony featured a program to felicitate the winners of all competitions. Dr. Rajeev Chavan, IDAS, ndc, Principal Controller of Defence Accounts illuminated the ceremonial lamp and delivered a concluding address. In his address, Dr. Chavan motivated everyone to work with honesty, devotion and dedication to create a corruption-free India, stressing the importance of performing duties with seriousness and responsibility and grow up in their respective arena bringing National laurels.

He emphasized that corruption weakens the basic societal foundations and hinders national progress. Dr. Chavan urged everyone to conduct their duties with responsibility, transparency and integrity setting an example for society. He concluded by congratulating all winners and participants encouraging them to carry forward their talents into future endeavours.

Ongoing efforts of PCDA(Army) Pune to broaden the scope of Vigilance Awareness Week’s objectives include collaborations with Symbiosis College and Kendriya Vidyalaya for similar events.

The next month’s proposed talk show will feature Sanjay Yenpure, IPS, IG CID Pune sharing insights on the subject. A special edition capturing various activities during Vigilance Awareness Week will be published in Hawk’s Eye. It is first of its publication in GOI covering plethora of activities doe during the week.

It will help in creating awareness sensitising people on corruption, its genesis and its eradication/prevention in years to come.

The ceremony was efficiently conducted, compered and carried forward by Suhana Arief, AAO and Kavita Satturwar, Sr. Hindi Translator ensuring a smooth flow of the event to its logical culmination.
