Pune, 15th November 2023: The Maharashtra State Road Transport Corporation (MSRTC) has reported high earnings this Diwali, with a significant surge in revenue within just three days. The MSRTC recorded an impressive income of Rs 4 Crores from State Transport (ST) buses, showcasing the extensive travel demand during the festive season.

This year, in response to the heightened passenger rush, the Corporation deployed approximately 515 extra buses to accommodate the increased demand. Despite the additional services, buses experienced considerable crowding, indicating the widespread reliance on ST buses for festive travel.

Fondly referred to as ‘Lal Pari,’ ST buses connect various destinations across Maharashtra, operating from key locations such as Swargate, Shivajinagar, Pune station, and Pimpri Chinchwad city in the Pune district. Marathwada and Vidarbha witnessed a high number of passengers, with significant crowds also observed on routes to Solapur, Kolhapur, Sangli, and Satara.

The Pune Division of the ST reported an income of Rs. 1 crore 33 lakhs on November 10, followed by Rs. 1 crore 36 lakhs on November 11. The day after Lakshmi Pujan, November 12, saw an income of Rs. 1 crore 13 lakhs. Bookings for the upcoming eight days, including November 13 and 14, are reportedly fully booked, indicating sustained travel demand post-Diwali.
