Efforts are being taken worldwide to prevent hackers and scammers from stealing the data of individuals. Meta, the owner of several social media giants, has been putting efforts to increase the security and privacy of its messaging platform WhatsApp. In recent times, it has announced several features for users to improve security, which many are not aware of.

 

 

 

Among one of its recent features is the Privacy Checkup feature that allows users to control who can have access to their information. One can control who they receive WhatsApp calls from, or activate screen lock for the app. One can also activate the Two-Factor Authentication for enhanced security. Additionally, beta testing of the Email Account Verification feature has been started, according to the report of WABetaInfo. This feature can be seen in the new version of WhatsApp and is now available for beta testers on both Android and IOS. Users can turn this feature on or off at their convenience.

 

 

 

To enable other available privacy features on WhatsApp, one can follow the steps given below.

 

 

 

Stop calls coming from unknown numbers:

 

Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.

 

Tap on Account > Privacy

 

Scroll down and tap Blocked Contacts.

 

Tap Add in the top right corner.

 

Select Unknown from your contacts.

 

Tap on BLOCK.

 

 

 

Activate Screen Lock:

 

Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.

 

Tap on Account > Privacy.

 

Scroll down and tap Screen Lock.

 

Toggle on Face ID/Touch ID to unlock.

 

 

 

Turn on Two-Factor Authentication:

 

Open WhatsApp and go to Settings.

 

Tap on Account > Two-Step Verification.

 

Tap Two-Step Verification

 

Enter the 6-digit PIN and tap Next.

 

Enter your email address and tap Next.

 

You will receive an email with a verification code.

 

Enter the code in WhatsApp and tap Next.
