Undri, 4th November 2023: Residents of Undri-Mohammadwadi are actively seeking improved civic facilities and have initiated efforts to include the road from Mohammadwadi Chowk leading to Country Club, Undri, under the Pune Municipal Corporation’s (PMC) land acquisition scheme.

The PMC’s acquisition of this land is in response to the persistent demands of the local populace for enhanced civic amenities. The primary focus of this initiative is to propel PMC into taking proactive steps to enhance the road infrastructure, which will significantly benefit numerous residential societies along this stretch.

The current state of the road is a cause for concern due to its highly uneven texture, marked by prominent cracks and uneven slopes. Notably, this road plays a crucial role in facilitating the passage of water tankers supplying water to residential areas, further underscoring its significance. However, the narrowness of the road restricts traffic flow, allowing only two four-wheelers to move in parallel.

Col. Deepak Kumar, a resident of Nyati Windchimes, expressed his concerns, stating, “I filed a complaint with the PMO grievance cell regarding the acquisition of this road. It has been approximately a month and a half since a junior representative from PMC inspected the area, but we have yet to receive any updates. Despite Undri being under PMC jurisdiction for five years, the persisting issues in the area prompted me to escalate the matter to the PMO grievance cell.”

In response, Neha Borade, Junior Engineer at PMC’s Estate Department, explained, “Upon receiving the complaint, we conducted a comprehensive survey. We have engaged in discussions with senior authorities and held meetings on this issue. However, obtaining permissions from around 16 stakeholders on the road has proven to be a challenging task. While approvals from a few stakeholders have been secured, we have urged Nyati Builders to assist in obtaining permissions from the remaining stakeholders, as the area is primarily occupied by various Nyati societies. This process is expected to take some time.”
