Pune: Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation Unite in Pledge for National Unity and Integrity

Pimpri, 31st October 2023: In a commitment to uphold the unity, integrity, and security of the nation, and to propagate this message among our fellow countrymen, we solemnly pledge ourselves to preserve the unity of our great nation, a unity that was made possible through the vision and tireless efforts of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel. As a sincere resolve to contribute to the internal security of our beloved country, officers and employees of the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation took the National Unity Day oath.

On the occasion of the birth anniversary of former Deputy Prime Minister and Union Home Minister Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, and in remembrance of former Prime Minister Bharat Ratna Indira Gandhi on her death anniversary, Additional Commissioner Pradeep Jambhale Patil and Ulhas Jagtap paid their respects. This significant event was also marked by a collective pledge taken in honour of National Unity Day.

The event witnessed the presence of several notable figures, including Chief Engineer Shrikant Sawane, Deputy Commissioner Manoj Lonkar, Special Officer Kiran Gaikwad, Public Liaison Officer Prafulla Puranik, Labor Welfare Officer Pramod Jagtap, President of PCMC Employees’ Cooperative Credit Institution Sunny Kadam, and employees from various departments.

Indira Gandhi, the first woman Prime Minister of India, is remembered for her remarkable leadership and the bold decisions she made during her tenure, earning her the title of the “Iron Lady.” She was honoured with Bharat Ratna, India’s highest civilian award.

Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, India’s first Deputy Prime Minister and Home Minister, played a pivotal role in the freedom struggle, earning him the nickname “Iron Man of India.” He was instrumental in uniting all the states of India after independence, leading to the celebration of his birth anniversary as National Unity Day.

The National Unity Pledge was recited and moderated by Prafulla Puranik, the Public Relations Officer, as a testament to the commitment of those in attendance to preserve and promote the unity and security of the nation.
