Pune: Maratha Protestors Force Cancellation of Deputy CM Ajit Pawar’s Program in Baramati
Pune, 28th October 2023: Tensions escalated as Maratha protestors advocating for reservation turned aggressive, leading to the cancellation of Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar’s scheduled program at the Malegaon Cooperative Sugar Factory in Baramati.
In response to the heightened unrest, organizers have prohibited the attendance of leaders from all political parties at the event. Consequently, Maratha protestors gathered in large numbers at the Malegaon factory area, prompting the cancellation of Ajit Pawar’s planned tour.
Chants of “Jarange Patil agae badho hum tumhare saath hai… ek Maratha lakh Maratha” echoed through the protest site, with demonstrators passionately advocating for their right to reservation. Placards bearing the slogan “One mission Maratha reservation” were prominently displayed.
To maintain order and security, a substantial police force has been deployed in the factory area, where protestors have assembled to voice their demands.
