Baramati, 23rd October 2023: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has ordered the immediate nationwide suspension of Redbird Flight Training Academy. The suspension comes in the wake of multiple accidents involving the academy’s aircraft, the latest being a mishap with a Technum P2008J plane.

According to an email sent by DGCA Director for Flying Training Captain Anil Gill, this is the fifth accident involving Redbird Academy aircraft in just the last six months. The DGCA has cited technical faults and maintenance issues as the primary reasons for these accidents.

DGCA plans to conduct a comprehensive inspection of Redbird Academy’s maintenance and repair protocols. The competence and authority of the academy’s designated examiners will also be assessed. Operations at all locations will remain suspended until the completion of these investigations.

The regulatory body has taken this stringent measure especially after two planes from Redbird Academy were involved in accidents in Baramati within the last four days. Although three people were injured, there were no fatalities.

The series of accidents has raised concerns among local businessmen and residents in the vicinity of the airport. The DGCA has stated that any further instructions to Redbird Academy will only be issued after a complete investigation.

It is noteworthy that despite these incidents, no representative from Redbird Academy has released an official statement or information concerning the accidents.
