Pune, 21st October 2023: Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) is set to launch a cashless payment facility at its pass centres, providing passengers with a convenient and modern way to purchase passes. This initiative, commencing on Monday, October 23, 2023, is aimed at enhancing the passenger experience and is part of PMPML’s commitment to embracing digital advancements.

Passengers can now pay for their passes through a Q-R code, facilitating quick and hassle-free transactions. Importantly, this new cashless payment option will not impact the existing pass sale facility, ensuring that passengers can choose the method that suits them best.

The formal inauguration of this innovative service took place in the presence of Pune Municipal Corporation Commissioner Vikram Kumar and Sachchindra Pratap Singh, Chairman and Managing Director of the PMPML. The event marked a significant step towards enhancing the passenger experience and promoting digital payment solutions in the public transport sector.

PMPML had previously introduced cashless payment options on all its buses starting from October 1, 2023, through e-ticket machines. This initiative received a positive response from the travelling public. In the period from October 1 to October 20, 2023, the Corporation generated an impressive revenue of Rs. 19,49,400, with 73,728 e-tickets sold and 89,368 passengers opting for cashless transactions using QR codes.

Currently, PMPML offers various types of passes at all its Pass Centers. The Corporation typically generates an average monthly income of Rs. 5 crore from pass sales, with approximately 60,000 passes sold on average. Building on this success, the Chairman and Managing Director of PMPML, Sachchindra Pratap Singh, has conceptualized and initiated the introduction of cashless pass payments through QR codes.

Starting from Monday, October 23, 2023, passengers can conveniently pay for passes through QR codes at all 40 pass centres operated by the transport body. This endeavour aligns with PMPML’s goal to modernize and digitize passenger services.

PMPML encourages all citizens to take advantage of the cashless facility for pass purchases, streamlining the process and contributing to a more efficient and convenient commuting experience.

Cashless Payment Process:

1. Request a QR code online from the attendant at the pass centre.
2. Make an online payment by scanning the QR code.
3. Collect the pass from the attendants at the pass centre, ensuring a seamless and efficient transaction.
