Pune 21st Oct 2023: Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar on Saturday distributed rewards to the lottery winners who have successfully filed their property tax for the financial year 2023-24 in the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) jurisdiction and secured prizes under the municipal corporation’s initiative. The event was organized at the College of Engineering Pune and was attended by several officials, including Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar, District Collector Dr. Rajesh Deshmukh, Additional Municipal Commissioner Kunal Khemnar, Vikas Dhakane, and Deputy Commissioner Ajit Deshmukh.

Congratulating the citizens who promptly paid their property tax, Deputy Chief Minister Pawar mentioned that as an incentive to encourage citizens to pay their property tax on time, 45 rewards amounting to a total of Rs 1 crore are being distributed. In this scheme, 6,60,785 property owners have successfully paid their property tax, which marks an increase in the number of tax payments over the past two years, totaling more than 300 crores. Consequently, PMC can provide better amenities to the citizens. Other municipal corporations should also organize similar programs to motivate property taxpayers, he said.

Municipal Commissioner Vikram Kumar provided information about the lottery scheme to the Deputy Chief Minister. The funds received from the property taxes will be used for the city’s development. The increase in tax collection over the last two years underlines the success of this program aimed at motivating taxpayers to pay their dues on time, Kumar said.
