Pune : PMC Starts Collecting Old Goods From Citizens Ahead Of Festive Season, 269 Maress And 492 Furniture Material Collected Today

Pune 14th Oct 2023: The Pune Municipal Corporation in a unique initiative has started collecting old goods from citizens which are often abandoned on city roads or in the river ahead of festive season. The civic body aims to work on the Reduce, Reuse and Recycle concept to utilise the collected goods.

According to officials, a total of 91 collection centers were set up at various locations in different wards today through which the civic officials collected 269 mattress weighing around 4,168 Kg, 337 pillows weighing around 701 Kg, around 5,630 Kg of unused clothes, 492 furniture weighing around 9,188 Kg. The collection centers were open between 10 am and 4 pm where citizens in large numbers came with their old goods and submitted them to the civic officials.

The civic body through this initiative aims to reduce pollution and illegal waste disposal in the city limits. According to the officials, the citizens often replace their old mattress and other goods during Diwali and Dussehra festival and while doing it they abandon the old goods in the open.
