Pune: PMPML Conductor Assaulted For Asking To Vacate Ladies Seat And Purchase Ticket, Case Registered

Pune 13th Oct 2023: A Pune Mahanagar Parivahan Mahamandal Limited (PMPML) conductor was allegedly assaulted by a passenger causing serious injury on his head following a dispute after he asked to vacate the ladies seat and purchase a ticket for the journey. The incident took place near Swargate Bus Depot on Wednesday.

According to the officials, the accused was identified as Nishan Singh (29), an employee with Maha Metro in Pune and he was apprehended by the conductor, driver and one of the passerby after the assault. The accused was handed over to Swargate police for further investigation.

According to officials, the incident was reported on the Shivajinagar-Swargate bus. The accused along with two of his accomplice boarded the bus from Shaniwarwada and had a verbal dispute with the conductor after he asked them to purchase the ticket or get down at the next stop. He also asked one of them to vacate the ladies seat during their journey. However, after the bus reached Swargate Bus Depot the conductor asked everyone to get down saying that it was the last stop of the bus.

The accused got into a verbal argument with the conductor again and later assaulted him with a steel bracelet due to which the PMPML conductor suffered four stitches on his head. A case under relevant sections has been registered at Swargate Police Station and police are investigating further in the matter.
