Pune: PMC Plans To Spend Rs 230 Crore To Solve Water Crisis In Wagholi And Lohegaon
Pune 13th Oct 2023: A Detailed Project Report (DPR) aiming to solve the water crising in Wagholi and Lohegaon areas of the city has been approved by the Pune Municipal Corporation in the recent meeting. A civic body has planned to spend Rs 230 Crore for the water supply system in these areas and new infrastructure will be created to solve the problem.
The civic officials are also planning to revamp the existing infrastructure in the area using this fund and it will urge the state government to provide additional water from the Bhama Askhed dam. The officials said that the water demand in these two areas is set to rise in the coming days and considering the situation the Municipal Corporation has asked for 1.45 TMC water from the state government.
According to the DRP approved in the recent meeting, the civic body plans to replace the old water pipelines in the area and revamp the old water tanks. According to the officials, a total of seven new water tanks in Lohegaon and six in Wagholi will be constructed in the coming time. Besides, the 10 water tanks which are already available in the two areas including 5 in Lohegaon and 5 in Wagholi will also be revamped. The civic body aims to spend Rs 54 Crore for this.
The Municipal Corporation has also planned to spend Rs 176 Crore to replace the old water pipelines in Lohegaon and Wagholi. The necessary steps to take the plan further have already been taken and the completion of the project is likely to take around two years.
