Pune, 12th October 2023: The Pune Excise Department has revoked the license of the well-known Airking Restaurant and Bar in Bibwewadi following multiple complaints from local residents and allegations of illegal activities on the premises. The establishment had previously faced two cases from the Excise Department, one on June 30 and another on September 26, before finally losing its license on October 4, 2023.

CB Rajput, Superintendent of State Excise, Pune Division, told Punekar News, “We have received numerous complaints from nearby residents and the local MLA about Airking Restaurant and Bar.”

In a similar vein, the Excise Department has also canceled the licenses of several beer shops for selling foreign liquors, Rajput added.

The actions come as part of a special campaign by the Pune Excise Department to crack down on illegal liquor production and sales. Conducted from October 2 to October 8, the campaign resulted in 284 registered crimes, 242 arrests, and the seizure of items valued at Rs 1,19,51,830.

The revocation of licenses serves as a stern warning to establishments engaging in illegal activities and underscores the department’s commitment to enforcing liquor laws and regulations. The crackdown aims to ensure the safety and well-being of Pune residents, while also holding businesses accountable for their actions.
