Pune: Brave Mother Fends Off Leopard to Save Sleeping Child in Ambegaon
Pune, 12th Oct 2023 : In a remarkable incident that unfolded in Thorandale village in Ambegaon taluka, a mother courageously fought off a leopard attempting to snatch her seven-month-old child in the dead of night. This incident occurred on Wednesday morning.
The brave mother, identified as Sonal Karagale is from a Shephard community. Sonal her husband Dhondibhau and son Deva were halting at a farm with their animals in the village when the incident took place. Early in the morning, as Sonal was feeding her child, she suddenly noticed the leopard trying to drag her baby away from her arms. With immense courage, Sonal managed to grab her child’s foot and thwart the leopard’s attempt. Sonal sustained injuries in the incident but with her bravery she managed to save the child.
The incident has left the entire village astounded and the authorities were alerted once again to the persistent conflict between humans and leopards in the region. The Forest Department officials visited the scene to assess the situation. They have been requested by the villagers that proper cages be installed in the vicinity to capture the leopard to address the concerns of the local farmers.
