Pune, 11th October 2023: The Maharashtra State Road Development Corporation (MSRDC) is making significant strides in land acquisition for the ambitious ring road project aimed at alleviating traffic congestion in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. Haveli taluka has emerged as a frontrunner, acquiring nearly 94.50 hectares of land in just three months.

The ring road, spanning 172 km in length and 110 m in width, is planned to be executed in two phases—East and West. The road will traverse through multiple villages in Maval, Khed, Haveli, Purandar, and Bhor in the eastern region. In the western part, the road will pass through villages in Bhor, Haveli, Mulshi, and Maval. Approximately 750 hectares of land across 44 villages are slated for acquisition for this mega project.

The land acquisition process for the western route commenced on July 5, spearheaded by the district administration. Initially, the deadline for submitting consent forms was set for July 30. However, due to Prime Minister Modi’s visit to Pune and other unforeseen circumstances, the deadline was extended to August 21. As of this extended deadline, 94.50 hectares of land have been acquired from 10 villages out of the targeted 14 in the western part. Sanjay Asawale, the province of Haveli, revealed that a budget of Rs. 205 crores has been allocated for compensation.

The near completion of the land acquisition in the western part has been attributed to the effective guidance of District Collector Rajesh Dekmukh and the cooperation of local farmers.
