Pune: Nine-Year-Old Dog ‘Pinky’ Crushed Under Reckless Driver’s Thar, FIR Registered
Salunke Vihar, 7th October 2023: A nine-year-old dog named ‘Pinky’ met a tragic end when she was crushed under a SUV while sleeping on the road. The incident occurred on the morning of September 19. Kondhwa police have registered a case against the driver of the vehicle.
The driver faces charges under multiple sections, including section 429 of the IPC, section 119 of the Maharashtra Police Act, section 184 of the Motor Vehicle Act, and section 11 (1) (l) of the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals Act, 1960. Shashi Narayan Bhushan, a 42-year-old resident of Salunkhe Vihar Society, Kondhwa, filed the complaint.
According to the police, Shashi Bhushan is part of a group that includes society members Madhavi Apte, Jyoti Patil, Saloni Bhatia, Priyamvada Singh, Avni Sathe, Parag Parmaj, and Rahul Wagle. This group is dedicated to caring for stray dogs and cats, ensuring their vaccination, and providing medical treatment when needed.
On the day of the incident, Shashi Bhushan was informed by Avni Sathe that Pinky had been seriously injured by an unknown driver. Upon returning to his society, he found Pinky with severe injuries. She was immediately taken to a veterinarian but succumbed to her injuries the next day.
CCTV footage revealed that a black-colored ‘Mahindra Thar’ was seen driving recklessly, leading to Pinky’s fatal injuries. Shashi Bhushan, along with his colleagues, filed a complaint at the Kondhwa Police Station. The police are conducting further investigations into the matter.
