Pune: Pimpri-Chinchwad’s Ambitious IIM Dream Inches Towards Fulfillment

Moshi, 6th October 2023: The dream of having an Indian Institute of Management (IIM) branch in Moshi, Pimpri-Chinchwad, is taking shape as the municipal and district administrations are actively pursuing the proposal. This initiative aims to provide the local youth with access to a nationally recognized educational institution and promote employment and entrepreneurship in the region.

Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) has sent a formal proposal to the collector’s office, and the district administration has also extended their support to the project. MLA Mahesh Landge has advocated for the allocation of space and the creation of necessary facilities, urging swift action in partnership with the concerned organization.

Currently, efforts are underway to establish a satellite branch of IIM-Nagpur on a sprawling 60-acre government-owned land in Moshi. Plans include the construction of 12 and 18-meter roads to provide access to the site. A proposal has been submitted to transfer the land to the Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Administration for this purpose.

Moshi, once known as a garbage depot area, is poised to transform into a hub of national-level educational institutions. With the recent inauguration of the Sant Tukaram Maharaj Santpeeth in Talgaon Chikhli and the construction of a state-of-the-art Pimpri-Chinchwad Court building in Moshi, the city’s profile is on the rise. Additionally, a branch of the Government Engineering College is also in the works.

Municipal Commissioner Shekhar Singh has expressed his support for the project and has initiated the legal process to gain government approval. The Indian Institute of Management is expected to submit a demand proposal for seats in various categories to the Additional Tehsildar Pimpri-Chinchwad. After receiving this proposal, the site will be inspected, and the necessary administrative actions will be taken to facilitate the branch expansion.

Recognizing the significance of setting up an IIM branch in Moshi, which is part of the rapidly urbanizing industrial belt and IT hub between Pune and Mumbai, efforts are being made to bring this project to fruition.

Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis is providing guidance, and MLA Mahesh Landge is committed to advancing this initiative for the benefit of the city and its residents.
