Pimpri, 6th October 2023- The Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation has made significant contributions to the State Government, amounting to a total of Rs. 470 crores and 34 lakhs over the last five years. These funds are collected annually through taxes.

The municipality primarily sources this revenue from property owners within the city, including residential, non-residential, industrial, and vacant landowners. This income tax is a crucial source of funds for the Municipal Corporation.

With an income of 6 lakh 2 thousand, the municipal corporation accumulated a substantial sum of 816 crores in the fiscal year 2022-23. Notably, the general tax on houses and properties comprises the majority of the income tax bill.

Apart from general tax, the municipal corporation levies several other taxes related to water supply, health services, drainage, parks, and construction departments. Additionally, it collects and deposits three state government taxes: Employment Guarantee Tax, Education Tax, and Flourage Tax, which collectively amounted to Rs. 151 crore 27 lakhs.

On average, the Municipal Corporation consistently contributes more than 100 crores annually to the State Government. The income tax bill encompasses a wide range of taxes and penalties.

To support its waste collection services, the municipality has implemented user fees for residents and commercial property owners. Householders now pay Rs. 60 per month, while commercial property owners pay between Rs. 90 and Rs. 150 per month. These fees have been included in the income tax bill, with the collected amount allocated to the health department for further enhancement of municipal services.
