Pune: MSEDCL Officer Nabbed For Demanding Bribe, Case Registered

Pune 5th Oct 2023: The Anti-Corruption Bureau officials of the Pune region have arrested a Class-I engineer working with the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Corporation Limited (MSEDCL) for demanding and accepting a bribe of Rs 10,000 from a contractor. The accused identified as Rajendrakumar Saluknkhe, an executive engineer working with testing department of MSEDCL’s Chinchwad gaon office was arrested while accepting the bribe amount.

According to officials, the complainant is a contractor of a solar system and he works for liasoning between the consumers and MSEDCL. He had applied for the No Objection Certificate (NOC) for a customer with MSEDCL and was following up the online application. The accused demanded Rs 10,000 bribe for NOC and meter testing for a solar system after which the accused reached out to ACB to lodge a complaint.

The ACB team after verifying the details laid a trap and the accused engineer was arrested. A case under relevant sections has been registered at Chinchwad Police Station. Further investigation in the matter is underway.
