‘Glasgow Indians’ Celebrate Ganesh Festival In Scotland, Over 4,000 Indians Participate

Pune 26th Sept 2023: The ganesh festival has become a global festival over the last few years as many Indians living in the foreign countries have also joined the celebration on the foreign land. A group of such citizens from Maharashtra living in Glasgow, Scotland had organised a grand procession of lord ganesha to celebrate the festival.

Dhol tasha and the traditional attire of citizens added to the celebration as many foreign nationals also joined in to celebrate the festival procession organised by ‘Glassgow Indians’ an organisation formed by Indians living in Glasgow, Scotland. According to the organisers, over 4,000 to 5,000 including those from Indian origin and Scottish national participated in the procession. The organisers claimed that this was the largest procession organised for the ganesh festival in Britain.

The procession started from Glasgow city’s famous George Square and ended at a hindu temple in the city where traditional rituals were performed. The Scottish nationals had also gathered around the procession to enjoy the celebration as they were experiencing the rich Indian culture on a rare occasion in their country. The idea of organising this procession was to ensure that the Indians living in Scotland get a feel of our beloved nation and its rich culture while they are away and to keep our traditions alive even when we are on a foreign land, said the organisers.
