Lakshya supported Antim Panghal wins World Championship Bronze gets Olympic spot for India

Pune, 22 September 2023: Antim Pangal, a talented wrestler from Haryana supported by Lakshya Sports and Edelgive Foundation , made history by becoming the youngest Indian to win a medal at the World Wrestling Championships. Antim won the bronze medal and also a quota for India for the Paris Olympics

Antim, who has already won two U20 world championships, secured the bronze medal in the women’s 53 kg event at the 2023 championships held in Belgrade, Serbia. She defeated Emma Jonna Denise Malmgren, the European champion from Sweden, in the process.

Thanks to her impressive performance, Antim has also secured a Paris 2024 Olympic quota for India, which is the country’s first in wrestling for the upcoming Summer Games.

In the opening round, the 19-year-old Indian grappler defeated Dominique Olivia Parrish, the reigning world champion from the USA, 3-2.

Lakshya Sports, a nationally acclaimed sports NGO from Pune, and the Mumbai-based EdelGive Foundation provided Antim with comprehensive support throughout her journey. This historic achievement is a significant morale booster as she prepares for her next challenge- the Asian Games in Hangzhou.

Five Lakshya Supported Athletes for Asian Games

Four Lakshya Athletes will be participating at the Hangzhou Asian Games . Some of their star athletes, including Table tennis star Sharath Kamal, Chess GM Vidit Gujrathi , Wrestlers Antim Pangal, and Sunil Kumar,

Sharath Kamal, a decorated table tennis player, has previously clinched bronze medals in the Mixed Doubles and Men’s team events during the 2018 Jakarta edition of the Games.

This time, the Indian team hopes to give a fitting farewell to one of the most decorated paddlers in the history of table tennis.
