Monsoon Revival In Maharashtra : IMD Issues Yellow Alert For Pune Along With Other Districts For Tomorrow

Pune 21st Sept 2023: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted revival of monsoon in most of the parts in Maharashtra and the rainfall is likely to cover the majority of the districts including Pune in the next few days. The IMD has issued a yellow alert for Pune for tomorrow.

According to IMD, the district is likely to witness ‘thunderstorms accompanied with lightning and gusty winds (30-40kmph) at one or two places’ on Friday. The heavy rain is also predicted for Sunday and Monday as the IMD has issued a yellow alert for both days with similar conditions. No alert has been issued for Saturday and light to moderate rain has been predicted for a day.

The district has received good rainfall over the last few hours resulting in an increase in the water levels at the dams. The ghat sections have also recorded a good rainfall as IMD has reported 220 mm rain in the last 24 hours in the Tamhini Ghat area.

Along with Pune, the IMD has also issued a yellow and orange alert for several other districts in the state. Districts such as Gadchiroli, Gondia, Nagpur, Washim, Buldhana, Amravati and Akola have been issued an orange alert for tomorrow while yellow alert has been issued for other districts such as Dhule, Nandurbar, Jalgaon, Nashik, Ahmednagar, Satara, Kolhapur, Sangli, Chhatrapati Sambhajinagar, Jalna, Parbhani, Beed, Hingoli, Nanded, Latur Bhandara, Chandrapur, Wardha and Yavatmal.
