Four Agents Booked For Duping Women From Pune And Chennai By Sending Them Abroad To Work As Domestic Help, Women Rescued By MEA

Pune 20th Sept 2023: The Pune City Police have booked four agents for allegdly sending three women from Pune and one from Chennai to Saudi Arabia for work where they were subjeted to physical assault and mental torture. The women were earlier rescued by the Maharashtra State Women Commission with the help of the Ministry of External Affairs.

According to police, two of the women rescued have lodged complaints with the city police in the matter and two seperate FIRs have been registered at Market Yard police station. Four accused identified as Nasrin Bhabhi, Abdul Hamid Shaikh, Shamima Khan and Hakim have been booked in the matter. The investigation revealed that the agents were paid Rs 4 lakh to send the women for work in Saudi Arabia while the rescued women were paid Rs 35,000 per month salary to work as domestic help.

According to the victims, they were taken to Saudi Arabia to work as domestic help. Initially they were paid salaries on time but later they did not get the payment and when the refused to work they were subjected to physical assault and mental torture by the employer. The agents who sent them to Saudi Arabia also kept assuring them when they decided to return to India. Finally, they approached the Maharashtra State Women Commission for help and were rescued with the help of the External Affairs Ministry through the Indian Embassy in Saudi Arabia.
