Orange Alert For Today And Tomorrow In Pune, Heavy Rain Predicted
Pune 16th Sept 2023: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued an orange alert for Pune for today and tomorrow and has predicted heavy to very heavy rain for the two days. The IMD has also issued a yellow alert for the district for September 18.
The water levels in the dams that supply water to Pune have reduced due to shortage of rain this year and the district has received less than normal rainfall till now. In such a situation, the heavy rain alert has brought a sign of relief for citizens and the administration. According to IMD, ‘heavy to very heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas’ is predicted for the district on September 16 and 17 while ‘heavy rainfall at isolated places in ghat areas’ is predicted on September 18.
According to the official data, water storage at the four dams of Khadakwasla cluster was reported 93.82% (27.35 TMC) compared to 100% (29.15 TMC) reported on the same day last year. Khadakwasla dam currently has 58.16% (1.15 TMC) water, Panshet 99.71% (10.62 TMC), Warasgaon 99.10% (12.70 TMC) and Temghar Dam has 77.58% (2.88 TMC) water storage.
