Pune 15th Sept 2023: The Member of Parliament for Lok Sabha from Baramati constituency and senior leader of Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) Supriya Sule has said that the central government has prepared a Detailed Project Report (DRP) to construct an elevated highway between Narhe and Ravet for which a total of around Rs 4,000 Crore will be spent. The DPR was prepared following instructions from Union Minister Nitin Gadkari with an aim to curb the traffic jam issues on this stretch, she said.

Sule held a meeting with the officials of the National Highway Authority of India (NHAI) on Thursday where the officials shared this information. Besides, the ministry has also approved a fund of Rs 36 Crore for the construction of flyover on Mutha river in Warje, service road and construction of underpass between Kothrud to Mulshi.

The elevated flyover between Narhe and Ravet aims to solve traffic jam issues on the road as the vehicles travelling on the Pune-Bengaluru Highway will not need to enter Pune city and Pimpri Chinchwad and they can directly cross the city limits using the elevated flyover. This is likely to reduce the traffic jams on the highway as the commuters have been facing heavy traffic jams during the peak hours on this road. The NHAI had earlier built a flyover at Chandni Chowk to solve the problem. However, the traffic jam issue is not yet solved and the commuters are still stranded for hours on the stretch during the peak hours.
