Nigdi, 12th September 2023: Protesters from the Maratha Yuva Mahasanghana express their discontent with the Shinde-Fadnavis-Pawar government’s decision to recruit government employees on a contract basis in Nigdi today. The paper-burning protest highlights the community’s frustration with the government’s actions.

Dhanaji Yelkar-Patil, along with senior social activists Manav Kamble and Maruti Bhapkar, joined the protest in front of the Nigdi Tehsil office. This demonstration comes in response to the recent decision by the Shinde-Fadnavis-Pawar government in Maharashtra to hire government employees on a contract basis.

While talking to PunekarNews,in, social activist Maruti Bhapkar stated, “The government’s decision to employ people on a contract basis is problematic. Since 2014, we’ve seen contract-based hiring, including in the army and police, and although these decisions were taken back, the practice continues. This contradicts the government’s claims of being a people’s country.”

“We have various community protests for reservations, like the Maratha, Dhangar, and OBC communities, with hopes of securing jobs. However, contract-based hiring is detrimental to our youth and a loss for them. I strongly oppose this decision.”
