Pune: PMC Demolishes Unauthorized Constructions At Hotels In Deccan Area

Shivajinagar, 12th September 2023: In a continued effort to curb unauthorized constructions in the city, the Building Development Department of Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) took action against several establishments in the Deccan area.

The targeted locations included Skol Kitchen and Bar on Bhandarkar Road, Bharat Bazaar, Cafe Story Al Iran, and Cafe Street Bin Coffee located opposite Kamala Nehru Park.

During the operation, approximately 3,100 square feet of unauthorized construction was demolished. This included the removal of makeshift sheds constructed with bamboo, sheet metal, iron angles, and unauthorized rooms built with similar materials.

The operation was carried out under the supervision of Executive Engineer Bipin Shinde, with support from Deputy Engineer Sunil Kadam, Branch Engineer Rahul Rasale, and Junior Engineer Samir Gadhai. Ten skilled laborers along with the assistance of a gas cutter, were employed to carry out the demolition. Local police personnel also present during the operation.

Deputy Engineer Sunil Kadam emphasized that the crackdown on unauthorized constructions will continue to maintain the city’s safety and adherence to building regulations.
