Pune: After Seven Rounds For Centralised Admission Process For FYJC, Over 40K Seats Still Vacant
Pune 12th Sept 2023: The Directorate of Education (Secondary and Higher Secondary) has conducted seven rounds including three regular and four special rounds for the centralised admission process for First Year Junior College (FYJC) so far and a total of 76,159 admissions were allotted to the students. However, a total of 40,871 seats are still vacant in the colleges in Pune and Pimpri Chinchwad. According to the officials, the admission process is likely to continue till October as more special rounds are being announced.
The merit list for the fifth round was announced on Monday. However, the college administration is now worried with the delayed process as they have also started functioning and lectures have also begun. The college administration has to repeat the syllabus for the students who are allotted the seats late and the schedule is also disturbed. Same issue was repeated last year when the centralised admission process continued even till the first semester exam was announced.
The students are given options to fill preferences for the colleges under the centralised admission process and many of them are reluctant to take admission when they do not get the admission to college of their preferences. As a result, the number of seats vacant continue to remain high and the administration is announcing one after another special rounds to allot seats to these students.
