Yerwada, 9th September 2023: Pune Police Commissioner, Retesh Kumaarr, has issued orders to invoke the Maharashtra Control of Organized Crime Act (MCOCA) against a notorious gang wreaking havoc in the Yerwada area. Kumaarr, who has been actively addressing criminal activities since taking office as Police Commissioner, has now taken a firm stand against this gang, marking the 58th such action against gangsters in the city.

The gang, led by Hussain alias Sonya Yunus Sheikh, along with Wasim Hyder Ali Bhogle (22 years old) and Amir alias Shankya Yunus Sheikh (18 years old), both residents of Laxminagar, Yerwada, are at the center of this crackdown. While Hussain and three of his associates remain at large, Wasim Bhogle and Amir Shaikh have been apprehended.

The gang’s criminal activities came to light when Hussain Shaikh and his accomplice Rupesh Rajguru demanded extortion of Rs 1 lakh from a resident to settle an old dispute in the Irani Market area of Yerwada. When the victim refused to pay the amount, the accused brutally attacked him.
