Students Raise Concerns After Worms Were Found In Hostel Mess Inside SPPU Campus
Pune 9th Sept 2023: An incident of worm being found in food served at the hostel mess inside the Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) campus was reported. The students living in hostel number 8 complained about the issue to the university officials while demanding action against the contractor responsible for running a mess inside the university campus.
The incident has sparked serious concerns about the quality of food served to the students living in university hostels as similar incidents were reported in the past as well. The student organisations have now started demanding the authorities to establish a canteen committee to oversee the mess operations inside the campus to ensure that the students are provided better quality food by the contractors.
Several students living in the hostels inside the campus are already on indefinite strike over various issues including alleged fraud in the hostel allocation, quota system. The students are also demanding removal of several officers including hostel warden and officer on special duty.
