Pune: Extortionists Strike Again In Viman Nagar, Snatch Gold Chain Of Hotel Owner
Viman Nagar, 7th September 2023: In yet another incident of terror, goons wreaked havoc in a hotel located in the Viman Nagar area under Yerwada police station. The victim was compelled to pay a monthly payment (hafta) of Rs 5,000 to the gang members, who threatened to disrupt her hotel business otherwise.
When she refused, the goons forcibly took a gold chain from her neck. This distressing incident occurred on the morning of September 6 at around 8:30 am in Viman Nagar.
The arrested accused has been identified as Akhil Anil Palande, a 25-year-old resident of Dhanori. A case has been filed against Omkar Tingre (26 years old) and other criminals at the Yerwada police station, based on a complaint filed by the woman.
According to the police, the complainant owns a hotel called JMD Fast Food in Viman Nagar near Bajaj office. On September 6, Akhil and his accomplices visited the hotel and demanded a monthly payment of Rs 5,000 to allow the complainant to operate her hotel. They threatened to destroy the hotel if she didn’t comply, claiming that they held influence in the area. The gang forcibly snatched a gold chain worth Rs 120,000 from the woman’s neck and proceeded to vandalize her hotel.
The Yerwada police are currently investigating the matter.
