122 Govt Schools In Pune Rural Do Not Have Teacher, Supriya Sule Demands To Solve The Problem By Hiring Unemployed Youths
Pune 5th Sept 2023: Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) MP Supriya Sule on Tuesday met the chief secretary of school education department of Maharashtra Ranjeet Singh Deol over shortage of teachers in government schools in Pune rural. Sule claimed that a total of 122 government schools in the rural parts of Pune do not have teachers due to which the students living in these areas are struggling for basic education.
“A total of 11,730 teachers are approved for schools run by Zila Parishad in Pune rural of which 794 posts are vacant. A total of 122 schools do not have teachers” Supriya Sule stated in her letter. She has also claimed that a majority of teachers who were transferred online have not joined their duties and they have challenged their transfers in the court.
“Out of 274 teachers who were transferred online only 33 of them have joined their duties while 241 have challenged their transfer in the high court. Due to this the villagers are complaining about shortage of teachers in government schools. To solve this problem, the unemployed youths who have completed their education in B.Ed or D.Ed should be given jobs so that the schools will also get teachers and the decision will also help to reduce the unemployment” she said.
She also highlighted that the students living in the interior parts of Pune rural are completely dependent on government schools since there are no private schools in these areas. However, due to shortage of teachers the students are missing out on their education. It may be noted that several teachers who were transferred to villages located in the interior parts of the district had refused to join duties and they have challenged their transfers in the court while some teachers have approached the court after they did not get the posting of their choice.
